Karen Parsons

Karen Parsons has been involved in port ministry for the past 27 years. In 1992 the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston named her port chaplain, the first Roman Catholic laywoman in the world ever to be appointed to this position. Karen has attended or conducted seminars in maritime ministry on every continent except for Antarctica. She has taught at the Houston International Port Chaplaincy School for the past 22 years. She is certified in Maritime Ministry, Seafarers Advocacy, and Spiritual Direction. Karen is married to (Ret. USCG) Captain Edward Parsons. Combined they have seven children.
